At work, like in private life, trust is the only token you truly have to trade. Break a trust relationship with your coworkers or customers, and it might take you a decade, if ever, to rebuild it.

Sometimes, tho, the hardest thing is realizing that you have lost their trust.

I go to parties and professionals in disparate lines of business (from marketing to accounting) ask me about #AI. They all have a vague opinion about what it is, how it will impact their jobs, and how quickly. But they -all- see models being deployed in their workplaces.

Does the work you do create meaning or impact?
Do you feel ownership (emotionally) in the work you’re doing?
Do you have the freedom to make choices?
Is the task monotonous?

There’s a difference between fending off scope creep and refusing to address overwhelming market demand for a single capability you don’t have. The former helps you focus. The latter opens the door to threatening competitors. Listen to customers to understanding which is which.
