I’ve started prep for a fun podcast that Uli Hitzel has arranged on LinkedIn for next week: The Year in #AI. We’ll review what happened in 2022 with a focus on #GenerativeAI, including #dalle2, #stablediffusion, #chatGTP, etc.

1/ Here’s a glimpse of the future of entertainment: somebody has created an app that uses iPhone LiDAR to create depth maps of anything. Those maps are then passed to the new #stablediffusion depth2img model to generate whichever scene your imagination can conceive. https://t.co/0hyO1PCrQK

2/ Now imagine this: this LiDAR + #stablediffusion approach becomes so fast (watch out for this week’s release of distilled SD) that it can happen real-time.

Also imagine that a large language model like #GTP3 generates more prompts consistent with a theme you decided upfront.

3/ Finally, imagine that these building blocks end up in a mixed reality visor like the one that Apple is supposedly preparing to launch. What do you have?

Real life modding.

The closest thing to awake dream walking.

4/ But if you can mod the real world in that way, and consistently stick to a theme, and everything is in a mixed reality headset, then you can build a story that unravels in the real world.

Which means that you can make a movie, maybe. A movie that takes place in your reality.

5/ A movie that adapts to your taste. A movie that you can relate to 100x more than anything you see at the cinema. A movie that can potentially produce emotions way more intense than anything we experience today with books, theatre, film.
