3/ This attachment, in turn, makes people desire to spend more time online. It can become a vicious circle. The more you invest (emotionally, economically) online the harder is to let go.

4/ Thought 2: among the other things, and this is an oversimplification, the function of a government is to protect and regulate the life of its citizens. The government can do that as long as its citizens spend time in a territory that it has jurisdiction to regulate.

5/ Question: What happens if, all of a sudden, because of their attachment to digital goods, citizens start to spend all their time in online VR/metaverse platforms? The government still has jurisdiction, but it’s indirect and mediated by platform owners.

6/ Can the government still exercise its function to protect and regulate citizens’ life if those citizens spend, let’s say, all their awake time inside a VR/metaverse platform controlled by a corporation?

And, finally, it’s worth reminding the @SANSInstitute survey published this summer: “Automation and Integration Survey: First We Walked, Now We Run (But Should We?)” which is full of insights about how much more the companies are interested and investing in automated SecOps.

Tracking how the market sentiment has changed from 2018 to the end of 2021 has been a fascinating exercise. We’ve seen the interest in security orchestration and automated SecOps exploding.

People are realizing that what we have done so far is not working / won’t work in future
