One of the nicest aspects of my job is the diversity of topics I face, alternatively tackling business, tech, or regulatory aspects.
In the last two weeks: #edgecomputing market review, #IoT scalability requirements, #cybersecurity regulations and policy initiatives in the #EU.

Also: in my experience, infrastructure-oriended people tend to prefer general-purpose solutions; application-oriented people tend to prefer use-case/vertical specific solutions. It’s a generalization but I noticed that It often boils down to a natural affinity to one or the other

But use case/vertical specific is hard. You need to understand the problems of a customer or an entire industry like an insider. And it’s resource-intensive: how many verticals can you serve at the same time?

General-purpose or use case/vertical specific? I had this conversation for 10y now, and my experience tells me that the latter ALWAYS wins (aka higher returns).

Only time the former wins is when you consider its benefits *on paper* and there’s no accountability for biz outcomes.
