One of the most ironic and at the same time troubling things that happened since I announced Synthetic Work, 2 weeks ago, is that I got bombared over LinkedIn by people whose jobs will be almost certainly replaced by #AI.

I’ll talk about this in a future issue of the newsletter.

The #AI community is the best thing that has ever happened to worldwide tabloids. https://t.co/SOxxyVivzm

I’m watching this new documentary about Psychonauts 2, from my favourite game dev studio ever, @DoubleFine, and I can’t help but wonder: will #GenerativeAI help @TimOfLegend & team to not cry every time they make a new game?

1/ Today, I showed a physical copy of Learning Python (Lutz) and my laptop with VScode & #Copilot to a teenager that is starting to learn how to code at school.
I wrote a single comment in English that generated code covered in first 3 chapters.
The answer I got? “Cool.”

2/ This teenager might never have to experience the blood & tears that come with learning how to code that previous generations have experienced. This teenager might find the confidence (or the time) to start building that previous generations had not chance to find.

@TomLikesRobots Ironic that almost nobody cared about the depth2img model, despite Emad’s efforts to direct people’s attention in that direction, but everybody got instantly crazy about ControlNet.

Also, for some reason I cannot understand, every model I tried insists on depicting Egon Schiele with spectacles. Here’s an interpretation of him generated with the Analog Diffusion model (my absolute favourite). You really need to use the negative prompt to avoid it. https://t.co/o1OBUej2J9

4. Obviously, this subject does NOT look like Egon Schiele, and Francesca Woodman’s style is about just barely there, if at all. That’s why I’ve been sitting on this one for weeks before publishing.

I’m afraid I’ll have to wait for #stablediffusion3 and try again.

Now. How would Francesca Woodman photograph Egon Schiele?

Like this. At least according to #stablediffusion2. https://t.co/7e8UKMOUEj
