2/ Internal conflict anticipated potential objections from customers, mitigated any author’s confirmation bias, and made the research papers more resilient and of higher quality.

1/ Conflict and divergence of opinions are good and can be positive driving forces within the organization. When I was in Gartner, analysts were encouraged to have fierce debates about topics before and after writing their research.

3/ Organizations that fail to protect and promote disagreement are the ones that end up with the weakest and least credible marketing narratives, and the ones that build tools for a world that exists only in the mind of their unchallenged leaders.

4/ The solution is not to eradicate disagreement, but to build confidence in each individual within the organization that disagreement doesn’t mean failure and conflict doesn’t mean poor teamwork.

5/ Foster a love for finding the truth, not for a quiet, peaceful life. The latter helps no customer and, for sure, it doesn’t change the world for the better.

Interesting that Apple is making enormous progress with #AI in text recognition (iOS15: Live Text for pictures, #iOS16: Live Text for videos), computer vision (iOS16: Visual Lookup, duplication remover, ), etc. but Siri was conspicuously absent during the #WWDC22 keynote.

I’ve seen lifetime iPhone owners having no idea where the search is, or mistakenly invoking Control Center. This week.

Yet, this problem existed for years. There’s more to this decision.
