I appreciate your interview question about #AI, @jackiesnow. I hoped for a better answer. Is this about denouncing automation or denouncing machine learning even if we don’t know yet what it will learn? > Algorithms are making American inequality worse https://t.co/7V9ZcfLvP1

@geoffarnold I don’t think people are skeptical. I think they are afraid of dying because of a machine mistake (per our previous exchange). If the manage to put aside that fear for a moment, the actual experience is unbelievable.

Overcome that fear will require years of AV use to believe.

Impossibly complex things start to cost a ridiculously low amount of money thanks to public cloud computing.

The challenge will eventually shift from finding the engineering talent that builds to finding the creative talent that uses these technologies in new ways. https://t.co/CLG4lzNwJu

@geoffarnold It all boils down to how many times you have been exposed to failure. Humans are exposed to human failure very early in life. We grow up assuming humans do mistakes. So it’s tolerated.
Machines are not expected to do mistakes because we are not exposed enough to automation error

What C-level execs care about is applied #AI – if an AI approach solves an old problem more efficiently or a problem that was impossible to solve before. Being able to translate the math into business value and communicate it effectively is as important as understanding the math.

A lot of people I interact with seem to believe that C-level execs and below care anything about the math behind #AI. Nothing could be farther from truth.
Also, it happens that a lot of pros that understand the math behind AI are not great at talking with C-level execs.
