If you think about the innovations @Facebook introduced in its 15y of existence, very little was dedicated to actually find new friends or strengthen the bonding between existing ones. Most of the research has been focused on user recognition, profiling and ad targeting.

This is one of the many thoughts I post on Twitter on daily basis.
