The new machines, known as the CartonWrap, pack much faster than humans. They crank out 600-700 boxes / hour, or 4-5 times the rate of a human packer…The machines require 1 person to load orders, 1 to stock cardboard and glue and 1 technician to fix jams https://t.co/0cFyTgAnPQ
@OpenTable @SevenRooms No tables available for you unless the #AI estimates at 97% that you are going to spend at least $120 per person. This can easily go beyond #privacy issues: https://t.co/gQaMSX7P6O
@OpenTable @SevenRooms Now I wouldn’t be surprised if, given enough data, an #AI could predict the average spending of customers based on their profile or preference in food/wine. What happens if, at that point, the reservation system shows tables available only to “big spenders”, as they call it?
Speaking of free services that (ab)use customer data, a lot of restaurants in #London are switching from @OpenTable to @SevenRooms. I’m not sure about the former, but the latter finds customers on LinkedIn and profiles them in a disturbing way: https://t.co/iSxBQeaf0y
This is an exceptional example of how #AI is driving us into what I call the “post-real” era. It’s fun only because it’s about a beloved artist, but anybody could be simulated like this. Must watch> Deepfake Salvador Dalí takes selfies with museum visitors https://t.co/5Qgb7OKkiK
Colour me shocked. By now, every user of every free service out there should expect their data to be used for #AI training at the very least, and side business in many cases > The Ever photo app turned users’ private snaps into AI facial recognition fodder https://t.co/shenUqeCWn
