In fact, you could set up two research arms, one publishing the exact opposite results of the other, and double profits.

Set up a “research” arm, run web surveys (or even make up the data, really), invest in professional web design that makes the results look very professional, don’t disclose demographic or methodology, and people will buy (and spread far and wide on your behalf).

The one thing I’ve seen built and rebuilt 100s of times over the last 15y of career is the self-provisioning portal (+catalog). Of the million of things that must be fixed in IT, vendors insist in redoing the portal (even if nothing is wrong with it). It’s the easiest, isn’t it?
