20y ago, when online ads started to proliferate in a serious way, anybody with even the most basic sense of aesthetics and design could tell it was a bad idea. It was ugly. We did it nonetheless. The same will happen with the equally-ugly forms of monetisation emerging today.

There’s no “transformation” in “digital transformation” if all you’re doing is incremental evolution of your IT systems. That’s normal. To “change in form, appearance, nature, or character” there are 2 once-in-a-decade opportunities:
