@Risar_ Lead time is irrelevant. Kids have to go to school anyhow, no? What matters are the implications once the system is in place and every year there is a fresh wave of students out of school with the right skills.

Also think about their happiness and fulfillment compared to now.

@Risar_ You don’t depend on rare employers’ long-sighted vision and ill-chosen retraining but only on ubiquitous parents burning desire to guarantee their kids a safe and satisfying future.

@Risar_ Yes. Once in place, you can adapt the curriculum every school year if necessary, for new classes or even existing ones. And you don’t have the time constraints of retraining a professional that also has to do the existing job to earn a salary. And more.

@krishnan Not enough. I am talking about actual schools for children. Everywhere in the world. Web companies already made the workplace more attractive than traditional vendors. How hard do you think it would be to do the same with school environments?

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the largest tech players would start building private schools. The shortage of talents in emerging disciplines cannot be fixed with re-training. It’s too slow and doesn’t scale enough. We need a constant stream of students trained for the future

Academic debate. Arguing on term accuracy is a waste of time and missing the point of definitions.

Where were all of you when we settled for the term “cloud computing”?

Cloud. Computing.

Cloud. https://t.co/pxPal8kYa8

Here’s another admirable effort, this time from @google, to democratize access to #AI: https://t.co/DkHQHPM0yg https://t.co/Upmh6r7Kkf

Truths about #AI:

1. Customers want the outcome of AI, not AI for the sake of it.
2. (most) Vendors don’t know what to do with AI as much as customers.
3. Both customers and vendors wrongly conflate AI and #automation.

@jesseproudman That’s because in none of your predictions tech and genetics revolutionize education.

Until we disrupt education, people will remain the weak link.

@egraciani No. Otherwise, every company using open source and/or public cloud as Netflix does would be like Netflix. Both are democratizing technologies that everybody can use. And yet they don’t foster a talent that is not there.
