I’m still asked every now and then by telcos and IT vendors about how to enter the public cloud market in the most competitive way.

My first comment is always the same: if you believe that public cloud is about IaaS (and size or speed of compute instances, etc.), you are DOA.

Case in point: the newly announced DeepRacer and DeepRacer League

Challenging @Google at their own game.

I said it for years now. But just in case, it’s not clear yet: @AWScloud never was about IaaS.

IaaS is just a low business value transitory step towards the ultimate goal of providing every possible application service for you to combine through your business logic.

I already use Mechanical Turk to label objects for my #AI projects. This fully integrates the service into the workflow. And it allows private workers. Remarkable.

@hyounpark @awscloud @ajassy My preferred analogy is: the body is the infrastructure, the brain is the application platform. Building on what the DNA always provides, not “just” trying to change it.

Imagine one day the human body becoming a technology platform as much as @awscloud is today and somebody like @ajassy announcing body enhancements at the pace he does at #reInvent.

Those enhancements are just new use cases.

Human capabilities will increase exponentially.

One of the side effects of @awscloud reckless pace in building services for every possible use case is that, eventually, they will cross a threshold where, despite enormous cultural differences, they will become very appealing for @Google engineering talents.

Putting myself in the shoes of a #CIO attending the #reInvent for the first time. I’d think:

1. There’s so much that I could do!
2. There’s too much that I could do…
3. What if I’m missing something?

#3 is the biggest challenge. You can’t navigate this complexity w/o advice
