My 2y long research on human enhancement technologies at https://t.co/vsOnfgvwOg has taken me far. This sort of stuff now arrives in my inbox: https://t.co/ESS4EYAXF4

@jamesurquhart Pushing further this concept:

How many people would be happy to $50 / month (instead of the rumoured $10) to access unlimited newspapers and magazines WITHOUT ads in it?

@mfdii I disagree. I think there are complexities in negotiating and procuring something that is part of a bigger something which contains a lot of things that are not necessarily relevant. How do you manage bids? How do you justify the purchase of unnecessary pieces? And much more.

@jamesurquhart Maybe. It feels like a lot of friction compared to simply knowing that you can access everything.

I imagine doing that process every time I switch TV channel with the remote and it feels like a I want to give up already.

@jamesurquhart But in that case, how a user would be exposed to many alternatives and have a chance to switch?

Maybe I didn’t understand what you meant

@mfdii Consumer-side, certainly. And there are already efforts in that direction (SetApp).

Enterprise-side, I find it very difficult to apply, given the complexity at procurement level.

But I am a strong proponent and will always advocate for a simplification of any sort of offering.

That said, I agree that most people are not interested in reading 10 different newspapers reporting the same news.
However, being present in the same aggregator maximises the chances to be noticed and gives people a chance to switch preferred newspaper.

All-you-can-eat is the only sustainable approach for a subscription model. The current alternative is 100s of services/products that spiral into unaffordable monthly costs > One week out, NYT and Washington Post still not signed up to Apple News deal https://t.co/kLmNR4pUiA
