I’m against obnoxious and irrelevant ads. @Instagram has the technology and the advertiser pool to do a much better job.

The last 20 years of Internet, in summary: a continuous migration from one free service to another as soon as the ads become so unbearable to ruin the experience.

TV was ruined by commercials, not just poor content. We learned nothing from that.
