Just had a chat with a very promising researcher in New Zealand who is developing a new artificial skin with high resolution sensitivity. The skin could be applied to bionic prosthetics, to further augment perception, or to objects, to detect interaction and act on it.

I don’t think it would appeal to the mainstream audience, but it would be an interesting experiment to see.
