2/ Other CMP vendors didn’t do much better over the last decade.

There are two possibilities.

The first is that a CMP is a terrible idea that has no market.

1/ I dedicated a significant portion of my career to cloud management platforms (CMPs). I believe @CloudBoltSW has a really fine CMP and they have done a lot of great things in the last few years.

Yet, only 200 customers in 8y at the cost of $61M.

3/ What I learned in these 20y of career is that even the best strategy or technical plan, no matter how sound on paper, is systematically screwed up every time it ignores human nature.

2/ Now take a professional that works in IT operations and studied years to become really good at what he does. Tell him that he needs to become a great developer. How happy will he be? What will be his performance?

1/ Human performance is inextricably intertwined to the level of happiness.

A doctor loves saving patients and studied her whole life to become a professional. Tell her that all of a sudden she must become a lawyer. How happy will she be?
