6/ Can the government still exercise its function to protect and regulate citizens’ life if those citizens spend, let’s say, all their awake time inside a VR/metaverse platform controlled by a corporation?

We’re on the verge of a massive change:

in its first 2y Fortnite made $9B in revenue primarily from selling skins. The business model of gaming has shifted away from game sales revenue to selling items and skins that have durable in-game value to players. https://t.co/AQRZKiW5Be

.@germanbionic is one of the startups in the human body augmentation space that I track via https://t.co/vsOnfgvwOg. It’s great to see a European company making great progress.

And, finally, it’s worth reminding the @SANSInstitute survey published this summer: “Automation and Integration Survey: First We Walked, Now We Run (But Should We?)” which is full of insights about how much more the companies are interested and investing in automated SecOps.

Tracking how the market sentiment has changed from 2018 to the end of 2021 has been a fascinating exercise. We’ve seen the interest in security orchestration and automated SecOps exploding.

To illustrate that final point, I’ll take the liberty to use 2 charts from the “State of Cybersecurity Resilience 2021” report by our @Accenture friends.

Another paper by Erich (“Is Security Operations Ready for XDR?”) contains a precious data point:

“In all the inquiries Gartner has handled on security automation, not a single client has indicated a lack of desire to automate something in security operations.”

And speaking of security orchestration, Erich Ahlm @Gartner has written an excellent research paper on the subject: “SOAR: Assessing Readiness Through Use-Case Analysis”

Big validation about why we released Ansible Security Automation in the way it is today.

Last working week of 2021 for me and extremely busy preparing for multiple #automation and #cybersecurity events. Tomorrow, a #CIO roundtable with @CIONET. In Q1, keynotes for Red Hat Forum Connect and CyberSec Europe (both in Belgium).

Topic? Security orchestration, of course.
