Somebody I know contacted me asking for some help to buy an iPhone. A highly educated professional. Yet, in panic. They sent me this pic about their @Apple Store browsing experience.

Too many choices only lead to paralysis, not “freedom” as some technologists insist. https://t.co/8UI7ZKYtOc

It’s also worth reminding ourselves that history is written by the winners. What we read in leaders’ biographies rarely is the exact rendering of the events and it rarely represents an unbiased root cause analysis.

We’re just reading an idealized version of what really happened.

It’s much harder to grow those traits and adopts those solutions that we dislike. Not just because they are against our nature, but also because we know that they’ll cost us a high social price to pay.

Conveniently, we ignore those portions from the leaders’ biographies we read.

It’s easy to read a leader’s biography and cherry-pick traits that resonate the most with us and solutions that offer the most desirable outcome. But we can’t take apart a strategy and hope to achieve the same. To reproduce a scientific result, we must repeat same the experiment.
