The Splendid Edition of Synthetic Work Issue #2, out this Friday, is fully dedicated to how #AI is transforming the Legal industry. If you know lawyers that would like to understand artificial intelligence without the technical jargon, send them here: https://t.co/sKxnbqStfY https://t.co/VqFieCw9tN

“As I pointed out long ago, claims that something is “AI-powered” because one engineer used an ML-based tool to optimize a curve or something doesn’t mean your product uses #AI”

Wisdom. If you only knew…

People all around the world discover “make-up”, thanks to #AI in 2023.

Obscene profits for the cosmetic industry follow as aforementioned people desperately attempt to replicate the outcome without skills & practice. https://t.co/oF3y09z3vs

We got to a point where I go to bed & I don’t know what to expect the morning after re #AI.

Today I woke up & discovered that a LLM has “taken the initiative” asking a user to upload a picture so *it* can understand better what’s the end result that the code must produce. https://t.co/hRhufKV3E1

Speaking of #AI tools and large language models today: I really like how @perplexity_ai is evolving their Chrome extension. I now can use it not just to ask questions but also to summarize specific pages. https://t.co/xV8ZBDMME7

One of the most foolish thing I heard in the last few years is that the #AI opportunity is unlocked by supporting NVIDIA GPUs. 1. it’s picking up nickels in front of a steam roller 2. Google, Meta & others don’t want to be locked in a mono-vendor relationship. PyTorch is the way.

Synthetic Work Issue #1 Splendid Edition, out last week, was dedicated to how #AI is changing the #Education industry and the impact it’s having on teachers.

If you know a teacher that might be interested in reading that content, let me know: I’d be happy to send it for free. https://t.co/Clh8T5rt62

One of the most ironic and at the same time troubling things that happened since I announced Synthetic Work, 2 weeks ago, is that I got bombared over LinkedIn by people whose jobs will be almost certainly replaced by #AI.

I’ll talk about this in a future issue of the newsletter.

The #AI community is the best thing that has ever happened to worldwide tabloids. https://t.co/SOxxyVivzm

@_msw_ Most #AI researchers I worked with are not involved in software development or release. Licensing has never been something they had to think about.

Their attitude is: we train and benchmark the model. Then, it’s your problem.

If that dynamic doesn’t change, why would they care?
